What we do

Local streets are a service that we all use, but for decades, traffic priorities have been allowed to overwhelm them, and they have been left dirty and unsafe.

Living Streets works on practical projects to create safe, vibrant and healthy streets for all.

It was founded in 1929 as the Pedestrians Association, and has been the driving force behind much road safety regulation and schemes such as the Walk to School Campaign and Home Zones.

Living Streets Scotland was formed in 2002 to provide a platform for discussions with the devolved government, and started to expand our volunteer activites in Scotland.

In 2005, Sandy Cook was appointed to drive forward the Living Steets Scotland project. He works closely with volunteers developing our agenda, campaigning and involving new members. He also promotes Living Streets' to political, professional and community audiences throughout Scotland.
